The position - • Leader of 2-3 person bed maintenance crew • Some client interaction • Pruning of established ornamental trees and shrubs • Perennial garden installation and maintenance • Planting and maintaining annual flower beds and container plantings • Care of vegetable and herb gardens • Formal garden maintenance • Interior and exterior holiday decorating

Job Requirements

Education, training, experience:
|
|
The qualifications - • 2 or 4 year degree in horticulture, floriculture, greenhouse management, or related field • Formally trained / experienced in horticulturally correct pruning techniques • Strong in annual and perennial plant identification • Knowledge of proper gardening practices – staking, pinching back, deadheading, etc. • Understanding of vegetable and herb garden care • Ability to design & install outstanding annual flower beds and container plantings • Basic identification skills for zone 5 and 6 trees and shrubs • Basic knowledge of common insect and disease problems in landscapes • Ability to successfully interact with both crew members and clients • Valid CT driver’s license
