Grow quality plants, cuttings and liners from an annual production plan to meet plant volume and ready dates.
Achieve annual spending plans.
Manage and protect all assign area assets and provide a safe working environment.
Achieve growing plans within acceptable scrap levels.
Team effectively with other managers in support of all company business objectives.
Involved in shipping during peak season.
Work with the Director of Production Planning and Inventory Manager to devlop an annual growing plan.
Develop an annual budget for assigned Area; implement plan within budget.
Plan and manage all growing activities (cutting, sticking, moisture management, fertilization, disease control, pest control, pruning and weed control) to achieve planned numbers of quality-rooted cuttings within scheduled ready dates.
Provide human resource leadership that achieves employee satisfaction for all assigned employees in an accident free environment.
Maintain excellent area housekeeping.
Education, training, experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture or 5 + years Experience.
Minimum of five years experience in propagtion growing woody ornamental shrubs and conifers.
Prior management experience and being bilingual in Spanish / English is required.
Good analytical and problem solving skills.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel software.
Pesticide certification is desirable.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work amicably and effectively with a diverse team.
